Details

Aeon Stellar Commerce Inc. seeks to enhance user experience by developing an intelligent dietary filtering system for their online platform. The goal is to create a smart discovery flow that personalizes homepage product and outlet recommendations based on individual dietary profiles. This project aims to integrate user dietary preferences into the platform, allowing users with saved profiles to automatically see personalized content. Additionally, users should have the option to clear these filters to explore all available products and outlets. The project will involve designing a user-friendly interface, developing algorithms for dietary preference recognition, and ensuring seamless integration with the existing platform. The system should be intuitive, efficient, and capable of handling diverse dietary requirements, ultimately improving user satisfaction and engagement.

Deliverables

Project Description:

Welcome to StellaEats, where technology meets health. This project invites talented student developers and UI/UX collaborators to help us finalize and deploy a smart search filter system across the homepage and product discovery flow.

Our app already includes:

  • A homepage with featured categories and a “view all” that links to a full product discovery page
  • A directory of merchant outlets with individual outlet pages
  • Search & filter capabilities by category

We now need to link that functionality to a user’s dietary profile — so when a user logs in and has completed their profile (e.g., gluten-free, no dairy), they see only what is safe and recommended for them. The system should allow for toggling filters ON/OFF, so the user can also explore outside their usual restrictions.

Project Scope and Expectations:

Students will work with our founder and product team to implement the Smart Dietary Pod system in the front-end user flow and search logic.

Expected Time Commitment: 60 hours over 2–8 weeks

Technology Stack: FlutterFlow, Firebase, Firestore (custom filter logic), optional AI matching extension

Company Overview:

StellaEats is Canada’s first dietary-first food marketplace, helping 10M+ Canadians with allergies and chronic illness discover safe, trustworthy food. We integrate food transparency, AI personalization, and verified small food vendors — creating a unique shopping experience that prioritizes health and dignity.

Key Tasks:

Task 1: User Profile-Driven Filter Logic

  • Retrieve saved dietary tags from the user profile
  • Apply those tags to auto-filter the homepage view
  • Show products/outlets that match only the safe filters
  • Add option to “clear filters” to view all items again

Task 2: Smart Search Integration

  • Improve the search result logic using dietary profile filters
  • Ensure category-based filtering adapts to active profile
  • Handle edge cases: no results, conflicts, filter reset

Task 3: UI Feedback and Filter Toggle Design

  • Display active filters clearly on homepage/search pages
  • Add reset or expand options to include more results
  • Improve clarity around “filtered view vs. full view”

Optional Task 4: Recommendation Preview

  • Surface recommended vendors or “Top Matches” per profile
  • Pull profile-matching items as a featured section

Final Deliverables:

  • A working demo or test build showing the dietary profile filter flow
  • Code or logic documentation (e.g., Firestore structure or UI flow)
  • UX snapshots or screen recordings
  • Student reflection summary and GitHub/FlutterFlow notes (if used)

Benefits for Students:

  • Work with real production logic in a niche health-tech use case
  • Learn to manage conditional UI filtering with real-world data
  • Experience working with smart logic in no-code/low-code environments
  • See their work live on an app used by real customers

Employer Commitment:

  • 5+ hours of mentorship from our product and founder team
  • Access to app backend for testing (with NDA required)
  • Slack/Notion for task tracking and communication
  • Flexible async support for weekly progress updates

Communication Plan:

Regular Communication:

  • Riipen and google workspace for
  • Weekly update messages via email or async thread

Scheduled Meetings:

  • Kickoff meeting
  • Midpoint UX/demo review
  • Final handoff and feedback
