- What is the main goal for this project?

We would like to move our website and all its contents (products, photos, customer database, order database) from a legacy platform to a new platform as well as update the overall design.
Students should be prepared to:
- Develop a plan for migrating our retail site from existing platform to Shopify platform.
- Create a design proposal including wireframes or low-fidelity mockups for our company's review.
- Create final design elements based on company approval.
- Execute the migration, including setting up card processing, mass email system and approved new design.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

A fully-functioning website, with our assistance in providing content and copy. The website should be built on the Shopify platform.
Tasks include:
1. Detailed plan for what databases need to be migrated and integrated with the new platform and with one another (i.e. product database has to be paired with product photo database)
2. Redesign of the retail website to give it a more modern and up-to-date look-and-feel.
3. Presentation of proposed redesign, work to incorporate suggested changes.
4. Complete redesign and implement on new platform.
3. Working with staff of current hosting company to obtain databases in correct formats for migration and uploading into Shopify.
4. Set up all backend site connections for email, credit card charges, shipping tracking.
5. Test entire site and make changes based on flow, glitches and input from testers and our staff.
6. Launch new site.

Students will connect directly with the employer for mentorship and supervision throughout the project. This includes:
1. Direct email and phone contact with designated company staff.
2. Weekly meetings by Zoom to discuss progress, problems and solutions.
3. One-on-one meetings as needed by team members with company staff.

Our customer base is 80% women and we have launched female-specific products, including subscription boxes in the past six years. Each of these boxes has carried our commitment to source product from female-run companies and female designers (every box has had at least one product sourced this way). We also have been a manufacturer of licensed products from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Charmed and Veronica Mars. Currently our website is hosted on an out-of-date platform that lacks the tools and capabilities to best serve our customers and our own needs.
