Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

This project aims to streamline Foundation Rwanda's (FR) donor management system by migrating from Salesforce to the user-friendly GiveButter platform. Riipen students will collaborate with FR to improve data accuracy, eliminate duplicates, and integrate existing tools like PayPal, Constant Contact, and QuickBooks. This will empower FR to better serve survivors of the Rwandan genocide and their families.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Project Timeline (To Be Determined)

Phase 1: Migration & Implementation (Before Holiday Campaign - Nov. 20 - Jan. 10)

  • GiveButter Setup: Establish a new FR database on GiveButter and integrate online donation channels for automatic receipt generation. Create an "Easy FR Receipt" template for manual check updates.
  • Data Cleanup & Migration: Export and cleanse data from PayPal, Constant Contact, Salesforce, GoFundMe, and manual checks. Identify and eliminate duplicate entries. This includes:
  • Pinpointing inaccurate, outdated, or inconsistent information.
  • Standardizing mailing addresses.
  • Verifying email addresses through scrubbing to ensure validity.
  • Ensuring information standardization across platforms.
  • Integration Assessment: Evaluate the feasibility of integrating existing platforms (PayPal, Constant Contact, Venmo, GoFundMe, QuickBooks) with GiveButter.

Riipen Student Tasks

  • Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of FR's current donor database and CRM to identify pain points.
  • Recommend and implement a user-friendly ideally free donor database management system (GiveButter) unless otherwise noted.
  • Cleanse and migrate donor data from various sources into the new system, eliminating duplicates.
  • Standardize mailing addresses and verify email validity.
  • Explore and assess integration possibilities with existing platforms used by FR
  • Update automated receipt for online donations and link newsletter to CRM.
  • Recommend and implement new, creative ideas and technologies to enhance FR's fundraising and donor management.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

FR's Berkeley-based co-founder and executive director will provide ongoing support and information to ensure project success. In addition, GiveButter offers ample tutorials and support. Riipen students passionate about supporting a worthy cause and gaining valuable experience in non-profit CRM management are encouraged to participate in this impactful project.
