Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal for the project is to enhance the organization, accessibility, and analysis of the company's vast datasets, ultimately improving user experience and facilitating better decision-making through insightful visualizations. This will involve two critical tasks: data tagging for educational institutions and app tag management for the app's subject content.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

- Systematically organize and label the database of educational institutions to improve searchability and filtering capabilities.

- Create a comprehensive taxonomy of tags based on factors such as location, size, program offerings, and specialties for educational institutions.

- Develop and implement a structured tagging system for the app's educational content, enabling users to easily find subjects and resources relevant to their interests and studies.

- Create tags based on subject matter, difficulty level, intended audience, and other relevant criteria for the app's subject content.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Support & Mentorship Strategy for Learners

To ensure the successful completion of the Data Visualization project by our learners, we have developed a comprehensive support and mentorship strategy. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment that not only aids in the completion of the project but also contributes to the personal and professional growth of each participant. Here's how we plan to support our learners:

1. Dedicated Staff Time:

  • Expert Guidance: Assign project mentors with expertise in data visualization and data management to provide personalized guidance, feedback, and troubleshooting support.
  • Regular Check-ins: Schedule weekly one-on-one and group meetings to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure learners are on track to meet project milestones.

2. Access to Tools and Technology:

  • Software Licenses: Provide free access to necessary data visualization and analysis tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and database management software.
  • Technical Resources: Offer a repository of resources, including tutorials, best practice guides, and templates, to help learners effectively use the tools.

3. Comprehensive Access to Data:

  • Data Availability: Ensure learners have full access to the required datasets for schools and app content, including any sensitive or restricted data, in a secure and compliant manner.
  • Data Management Support: Provide instructions and support for handling and processing data, including ethical considerations and privacy regulations.

4. Collaborative Learning Environment:

  • Peer Support Groups: Facilitate the formation of peer support groups to encourage collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual support among learners.
  • Discussion Forums: Set up online forums where learners can ask questions, share insights, and discuss challenges with peers and mentors.

5. Professional Development:

  • Skill-Building Workshops: Conduct workshops on key skills related to the project, such as data analysis techniques, storytelling with data, and advanced features of visualization tools.
  • Career Guidance: Offer sessions on career development in the field of data visualization, including resume building, interview preparation, and networking strategies.

6. Real-World Application:

  • Industry Insight: Arrange guest lectures or Q&A sessions with industry professionals to provide insights into real-world applications of data visualization and analytics.
  • Portfolio Development: Guide learners in compiling their project work into a professional portfolio that can be showcased to potential employers or academic institutions.
