We’re The Thrift Gift & Community Hub is a community-centered thrift, gift, and outreach hub rooted in sustainability, care, and circular economy practices. We're seeking motivated students to design and launch an e-commerce-enabled website that reflects our mission and values. This project involves competitive research, user-friendly design, and cost-effective implementation—supporting a grassroots organization making a real difference in Toronto.
About Us:
We serve where help is needed most. Our community center collects and restores donations, offers family-focused programming, and delivers support services for people facing hardship. Every item we touch is cleaned, repaired, and redirected with care—nothing goes to waste. Our motto is: Clean – Restructure – Restore.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct competitive research into similar community-based, resale, and donation-driven platforms
- Design and build a website with e-commerce functionality (for selling items, booking services, and accepting donations)
- Ensure the site reflects our branding, mission, and holistic values
- Integrate low-cost or free tools to keep business expenses minimal
- Recommend and document sustainable practices for site maintenance

- Online shop with cart and payment capabilities
- Donation and pickup request form
- Program calendar and sign-up forms
- About, Contact, and Community Vision pages
- Optional blog or news update area
- Mobile and accessibility friendly design
Ideal Skills:
- Web development (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, or similar)
- UX/UI design
- SEO and digital strategy
- E-commerce integration
- Experience or interest in sustainability, nonprofit, or community initiatives is a bonus
Project Goals:
- Create a professional, accessible, and engaging website
