- What is the main goal for this project?

Starting in 2026, Foods in Canada with excess levels of Saturated Fat, Sugars and or Sodium must have a front-of-package nutrition warning that communicates to consumers of this fact. The logo must be designed to meet regulatory requirements. We would like to have software developed that generates this graphic, when the values of these nutrients are plugged in, let it determine whether the food requires the warning and generate the appropriate graphic, which can then be downloaded as a PDF, BMP or JPG

Determine the excess levels of nutrients according to regulations, Determine which of the selected nutrients must be declared. Plug those into a pres-designed graphic (one of 8 possible graphic formats), generate the graphic, make it available for download

- How will you support learners in completing the project?

We have intimate knowledge of Canadian Food & Drug Regulations and can assist with providing the regulatory requirements to generate a compliant graphic. We will make ourselves available to students to answer questions, and assist with testing the software
