Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

As a fast growing beverage company with a focus on social impact, we at Wize have mostly developed the retail and grocery side of our business, and are now ready to expand our distribution into new channels, including foodservice. With your help, we hope to map out the foodservice customers we could get access to in Canada, with a focus on BC and ON, learn their ways of working with beverage customers and prepare an approach for them to bring our product line in. Our goal is to expand our distribution and the channels Wize is currently sold into, and to amplify our impact creation in the process while helping people live healthier lives.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Cross analyzing Wize's customer base and demographics with market research of Western Canada and Ontario markets to create a prospect list of new customers in the foodservice channel (restaurants, cafe, catering, hotel, office, recreation, entertainment, education), while identifying potential gaps in the existing sales channels
  • Use and help improve the existing CRM system to record prospects and set up a priority list in reachouts
  • Prepare a tailored approach to each prospect and coordinate prospect email and call campaigns with the sales team to bring in qualified leads
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities.

  • Research our target market in new areas and create a new weighted prospect list and actively participate in the company's strategy
  • Understand the ins and outs of the foodservice channel in Canada and provide suggestions to the sales team
  • Create sales campaign and tailored messaging to reach prospects
  • Use the sales campaign to reach out to prospects and refer qualified leads to the sales team and management

Final deliverables should include

  • An improved CRM list of prospects with details and priorities, for the student and sales team to use to decide on the sales prospect to reach out to
  • A professional presentation highlighting the working of each sub-category within the foodservice sales channel with recommendations to the management and sales team
  • Qualified leads for the sales tam
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • What do our present sales look like with respect to each location?
  • Who are our largest competitors? What products/services do they provide that are similar to ours?
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.

About the company

In a world of extremes, we're often asked to pick a side.

When it comes to drinks, why is it always everything or nothing? Super sweet or bland and boring, loaded with caffeine or none at all?

At Wize, we believe it's bold to be in the sweet spot.

Just like life, it takes guts and hard work to choose balance. Wize Sparkling Iced Teas nail that perfect balance of refreshing flavour, caffeine and sweetness.
We create such a smooth taste by upcycling antioxidant-rich and lightly caffeinated coffee leaves, which doubles the farmers' revenues in their 9-month off season.

The sweetest part? By handcrafting our premium teas on our own farms with custom techniques, we don't need fake sweeteners or loads of sugar.

With everything you want and nothing you don't, Wize is boldly balanced.

It's just who we are.
