ViaSkill is an AI-powered career growth platform that helps users track achievements, identify skill gaps, and generate personalized resumes, portfolios, and learning boosts. As a growing startup, we want to ensure that new and returning users can navigate the platform clearly, confidently, and efficiently—without confusion or friction.

We would like to collaborate with students to conduct usability tests of key areas of the ViaSkill platform, such as:

• Project Tracker (achievement capture + skill inference)
• Portfolio Generator (AI-driven career portfolio builder)
• Resume Generator (ATS-optimized resume creation)
• User onboarding and dashboard flows

The goal is to understand what’s working well and where users get stuck—so we can improve clarity, reduce drop-off, and elevate the overall experience.

This will involve several steps for students, including:

• Familiarizing themselves with ViaSkill’s product and user journey
• Helping define usability goals and tasks to test
• Recruiting users (we may provide test users or allow students to simulate realistic user types)
• Running moderated or unmoderated usability tests and capturing observations
• Analyzing the results and recommending actionable changes
• (Optional) Creating annotated mockups or flow suggestions

🛠 What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of this project, students should:

• Understand the structure, flow, and primary use cases of the ViaSkill platform
• Design and conduct usability tests for at least one major user flow (e.g., onboarding → resume generation)
• Analyze where friction occurs and identify what may cause user confusion
• Propose practical UX/UI or copy improvements that could improve engagement and ease of use
• Communicate results in a way that helps inform product and design decisions

Bonus steps may include:

• Creating a usability test plan template ViaSkill can reuse
• Suggesting low-fidelity mockups or annotated screen captures with UX recommendations
• Comparing feedback across different user types (e.g. students vs mid-career professionals)

• A final usability testing report outlining goals, methods, observations, and recommendations
• A 10-minute presentation walking through key findings and potential UX improvements
• (Optional) Annotated screenshots or UX wireframes with callouts
• (Optional) A reusable testing script or method ViaSkill can use in future tests

Students will work directly with ViaSkill founder Grace Cupat, who will provide:
