Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

BC Hospice Palliative Care Association is a not-for-profit, public membership organization, which has been representing individuals and organizations committed to promoting and delivering hospice/palliative care to British Columbians since 1986. We are focused on Advocacy, Education, Membership Support and Public Awareness.

We are currently planning our triennial Grief, Bereavement and Mental Health Summit 2024 (GBMH), now in its second iteration. Previously held virtually, this year's Summit will mark a transition to an in-person format, reflecting our commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration in the field of grief and bereavement.

The Summit will continue its exploration of the metamorphosis of grief and bereavement, particularly in light of the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and our collective journey towards recovery and integration. Through insightful discussions and shared experiences, we aim to delve deeper into the evolving landscape through more examination of research, and best practices.

We are looking for a few go-getter students to help us with the planning process of this event. It is an opportunity for students to develop soft skills such as communication, planning and problem solving. You will be working most closely with our event coordinator, Lillian Chen.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and execute marketing and communication strategies to promote the summit to target audiences, including attendees, speakers, sponsors, and partners.
  •  Create engaging content for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram) to increase awareness and generate excitement about the conference.
  •  Write and edit promotional materials, including press releases, newsletters, blog posts, and email campaigns, to communicate key messages and updates to stakeholders.
  •  Create visually appealing graphics, images, and videos for use in marketing materials and social media posts.
  •  Monitor social media channels and engage with followers, responding to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  •  Analyze marketing and social media metrics to track performance, identify trends, and make data driven recommendations for improvement.
  •  Assist with other marketing and communication tasks as needed, including website updates, advertising, and public relations initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to convey complex information in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Passion for graphic design and familiarity with graphic design software (Canva)
  • Previous experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or digital media is preferred.
