What is the main goal for this project?

Overview: 

More Than a Fad (MTAF) is a non-for-profit thrift store based in Edmonton, Alberta, raising funds for women in addiction recovery at Adeara. MTAF is largely volunteer-led and we are passionate about creating community, giving generously and educating about addiction recovery. As our reach continues to grow, so does our team, which is why we need you! 

 

The Women’s Sporting Event Coordinator is responsible for developing a plan to partner with a women’s collegiate sports team in order to help expand our reach and demographics while also helping to highlight women’s sports at universities. Implementing campaigns such as a T-Shirt Toss, Pop-Up Shop and Donation Drive as well as others with the goal to increase awareness and funds for More Than a Fad and Adeara.  

 

This position involves collaborating with the Community Development Lead, Communications Lead, Communication and Marketing Assistant and Social Media Assistant, delivering a high level of creativity and a plan with the goal to increase awareness and funds of More Than a Fad and Adeara. 

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Role Description: 

  • Connect with the Community Development Lead weekly  
  • Find a sport team that is willing to partner for an event 
  • Organize the logistics for one sporting event for this spring 
  • Promote event on all social media platforms with the help of our marketing and communications team 
  • Implement spring event 
  • Report on success and necessary changes for future events 
  • Work 10 hours per week for 8 weeks 

 

How will you support learners in completing the project?

The project offers mentorship and support from the Community Development Lead, providing students with guidance and resources to navigate the challenges of the role. Weekly meetings and access to data platforms will ensure that students receive the necessary support throughout the project.

More Than a Fad is a thrift store in Edmonton raising funds for women in addiction recovery. All profits generated by the store directly support Adeara's addiction recovery programming.
