Passionate about impact investing? Join Local Investing YYC at the frontier of social finance in Alberta as we advance our vision of mobilizing capital towards Calgary’s local economy for a sustainable impact.
We are looking for an individual with experience in finance/investment analysis to further the strategic direction of the cooperative working in collaboration with the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will have a firsthand opportunity to learn and work directly within a network of Calgary-based startups, capacity builders, accelerators, media, funders, and academia advancing the innovative social-impact ecosystem.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

As a Local Investing YYC investment intern you will be working closely with the Investment Committee to advance due diligence with potential investee companies. This includes:
· Conducting industry research (e.g., PESG analysis) and competitor analysis
· Conducting company SWOT analysis
· Conducting research on industry and company-specific sustainability impact metrics and financial metrics
· Identifying channels to recruit potential investee companies
· Assisting in preparation of the presentation documents for potential investee companies
This is a part time position (10-15 hours a month) with a high degree of flexibility.

- How will you support learners in completing the project?

The Local Investing YYC Board is comprised of a blend of dedicated directors with a diverse background in social impact, communications, sustainability, legal, technology startup, finance, legal, and social finance policy. The successful candidate will have exposure and mentorship opportunities with the Board and with the broader Calgary community of social finance players.
Compensation is offered at $18/hour.

Local Investing YYC is a for-profit investment cooperative with a mandate to provide capital to local businesses that are generating financial returns while creating positive social and environmental change in Calgary. To date, Local Investing YYC has raised $2.32 million in capital investing in 10 local businesses, having recently closed its third capital raise in late 2023.
