Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

In this project, the learner would have the opportunity to meet with producers and test their fields for disease using our prototype. The learner will be involved in all aspects of the client-company relationship, and will be responsible for conducting the test with scientific rigor based on producer specific conditions. The company will provide mentorship on how to properly work in a laboratory and field environment.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  1. Use the prototype to test agricultural fields for disease.
  2. Take samples from fields and test them using traditional gold-standard PCR techniques.
  3. Work with the client to ensure that their field is well tested and that their result is biologically relevant.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

The student will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced agriculturalists to achieve their tasks. They will also be mentored by the company's staff who will ensure that they have a safe and effective work environment.

What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

The student should have a background in either agriculture or biochemistry. Molecular diagnostics experience is appreciated but not essential.
