Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

I am a professor who teaches a course titled Truth and Reconciliation. For their final projects, students explore one of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action in a blog post submission. Students have the option to include their final projects on a public-facing website called Nàbowàdjige: Our Calls to Action.

I am in search of an individual who would be willing to partner with me to convert students' final projects into Wordpress pages. If you are looking to build your skills with basic Wordpress functions such as creating and publishing blog posts, ensuring accessibility, readability and the like, this might be a good opportunity for you.

Additionally, through your engagement with this project you'll learn more about reconciliation in Canada, accessible web design, open educational practices, and Creative Commons licensing.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  • Wordpress Basics training
  • Web Accessibility Basics training
  • Learning about Creative Commons Licenses
  • Learning about the Canadian TRC and the 94 Calls to Action
  • Populating the existing Wordpress site by converting .docs, .ppts, and .pdfs into functional and accessible Wordpress pages
  • Other related tasks can be mutually agreed upon

How will you support learners in completing the project?

I will be available via Zoom and email for ongoing communication and support. In the past, I've spent time orienting students to the project. Then we mutually establish check-in points based on what the participants want and need.

I am a College Professor looking to partner with motivated, engaged learners and graduates to enhance their existing skills, build their real-world experience, and learn from and with one another as we confront harsh truths related to settler colonialism harm in Canada, while celebrating Indigenous leadership, resilience, and self-determination.
