Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Complete documentation on the regulatory certification requirements for all classes of medical devices, as defined by the country of interest and mapped back to the CE-defined class, in 5-10 Sub-Saharan African Countries. This documentation will serve as guidance for new manufacturers when entering new markets and for our in-country customers when exploring new products to bring into their markets. The guidance document should include the differences in requirements by class of device, volume or value of device being imported, and if there is any difference in the requirements or import process for samples.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Learners will need to research from multiple sources (desk research, interviews, etc.) and distill the information into into one informative, clear document.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

We are available for email, text chat, and meetings throughout the project. We would like to have a kickoff meeting with the team(s) working on this project so that we can set expectations around communication and schedule meetings in such a way that will best serve the learners.

This project is being managed for our client, VIA Global Health. VIA aims to fill the gap in global healthcare distribution by eliminating the friction that exists between buyers and sellers of medical products. These inefficiencies often impact underserved communities the most, which is why they specialize in verifying, sourcing and shipping medical supplies to hard to reach communities. This project will help VIA better serve these hard to reach communities and bring healthcare devices to where they are needed most. It will also give learners an understanding of the broader medical device regulatory scene at a global scale and an appreciation for the variety of systems that are used to regulate healthcare globally.
