What is the main goal for this project?

Overview: 

More Than a Fad (MTAF) is a non-for-profit thrift store based in Edmonton, Alberta, raising funds for women in addiction recovery at Adeara. MTAF is largely volunteer-led and we are passionate about creating community, giving generously and educating about addiction recovery. As our reach continues to grow, so does our team, which is why we need you! 

 

The Fashion Show Event Coordinator is responsible for researching and developing a system and strategy for implementing a fashion show fundraiser for More Than a Fad and Adeara to take place September 2024 (Recovery Month). This position seeks to implement efficiency, communication and creativity as well as foster connections with other organizations that will benefit MTAF and Adeara. 

 

This position involves collaborating with the Store Manager, Community Development Lead, Communication and Marketing Assistant and Social Media Assistant delivering a high level of creativity and a plan with the goal to increase awareness and funds of More Than a Fad and Adeara. 

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Role Description: 

Phase 1: 

  • Connect with the Community Development Lead weekly 
  • Look into different fashion show opportunities that MTAF could be a part of as a fundraiser/awareness for Adeara and MTAF.  
  • Find sponsors and partners 
  • Develop and propose event timeline 
  • Outline list of event responsibilities 
  • Submit document with research findings, and event proposal
  • Work 10 hours per week for 8 weeks 

Phase 2: 

  • Develop and solidify partnerships for fashion show event 
  • Develop and implement marketing plan for the event (collaborate with the communications lead) 
  • Begin curating outfits, acquiring models and volunteers 
  • Submit marketing plan for the event
  • Work 10 hours per week for 8 weeks 

Phase 3: 

  • Implement the event  
  • Thank event supporters and sponsors 
  • Submit report on success and necessary changes for future events 
  • Work 10 hours per week for 8 weeks 


 

How will you support learners in completing the project?

The Community Development Lead will support the learners in completing the project through weekly meetings, access to data on platforms such as Sharepoint and email.

More Than a Fad is a thrift store in Edmonton raising funds for women in addiction recovery. All profits generated by the store directly support Adeara's addiction recovery programming.
