Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The internship project involves designing the UX/UI for "The Name Challenge" game within the Nomie app. Interns will focus on creating an intuitive and appealing game flow that encourages users to memorize and recall names. The design process includes user research, wireframing, visual identity development, and creating detailed design documentation, all while ensuring accessibility and alignment with Nomie's existing features and user personas.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Research and Analysis

  • Nomie Persona Analysis: Understand in detail the personas already identified by Nomie to tailor the game design to their needs and preferences.
  • Benchmarking: Study other similar games or applications to identify best practices in UX/UI for simple games and networking applications.

UX Design

  • User Journey Mapping: Define the different stages a user will go through when playing "The Name Challenge," from discovery to regular use.
  • Wireframe Creation: Develop wireframes for each key screen of the game, illustrating the structure and organization of elements without focusing on detailed visual design.
  • Information Architecture: Logically organize information and interactions in the game for intuitive navigation.

UI Design

  • Visual Identity Development: Design the visual elements of the game, such as colors, typography, and icons, ensuring they are in harmony with Nomie's visual identity.
  • Static Mockups: Create high-fidelity mockups for each screen, incorporating established visual design elements to present the final appearance of the game.
  • UI Style Guide: Compile a style guide detailing the use of visual design elements to ensure design consistency throughout the game.

Testing and Validation

  • User Feedback: Organize feedback sessions with target users to collect their impressions on the wireframes and mockups, and adjust the design accordingly.
  • Accessibility Analysis: Ensure that the design is accessible to all users, including those with specific needs.
  • Internal Validation: Collaborate with the development team and Nomie stakeholders to ensure that the design meets their expectations and is technically feasible without interactive prototypes.

Documentation

  • Design Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation on the game's design, including design decisions made, feedback integrated, and final specifications for the development team.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

During the collaboration, a company representative will be accessible for a weekly check-in meeting at minimum and will respond in a timely manner to address any issues impeding the progress of the design team.

Designers will have the opportunity to present and deliberate on their work in job search materials.

A company representative will be at hand for a preliminary discussion with the course administrator to assess and discuss the project's scope.

We are pleased to offer students consistent access to specialized staff guidance and pertinent project-related data for their tasks, as frequently as required.
