What is the main goal for this project?

Hart House is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Special Project Coordinator for our upcoming Talking Walls Art Exhibit titled, “I was here, and now I am…”.  

 

The Special Project Coordinator role involves using art as a medium to tell compelling stories about student involvement and leadership and its impact on personal development. 

 

Responsibilities include:  

 

  • Facilitating the development of the “I was here, and now I am…” Talking Walls Art Exhibition  
  • Utilizing art to narrate the transformative experiences of student leadership 
  • Integrating student development theories into storytelling 
  • Engaging with alumni to document their journey and its significance to their personal development 
  • Inspiring current students to pursue leadership roles and extracurricular activities 
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  • Identify and reach out to U of T alumni with a history of extracurricular and leadership involvement 
  • Conduct interviews and curate stories that illustrate their experiences and growth 
  • Employ graphic design skills to create a visual narrative for the “I was here, and now I am…” Talking Walls Art Exhibition  
  • Review relevant literature and apply student development theory in practice 
  • Analyze the project's impact and craft a narrative that resonates with the U of T community 
How will you support learners in completing the project?

As the Talking Walls Art Exhibit: Special Project Coordinator, you will not be alone in your journey. We believe in providing our team with a robust support system to ensure success and personal growth. Here is how your supervisor will support you: 

 

  • Mentorship: You will receive ongoing mentorship from experienced Hart House staff, providing guidance on both project content and personal development. 

   

  • Resource Provision: Your supervisor will supply a carefully curated list of potential alumni candidates and ensure you have access to necessary literature on student development theories. 

 

  • Regular Check-ins: To keep the project on track and to offer support, your supervisor will schedule weekly check-in meetings. Ad hoc meetings will also be available when you need additional guidance or face project hurdles. 

 

  • Feedback Loops: Constructive feedback will be provided regularly to help refine your work and ensure that it aligns with the project’s vision and objectives. 

 

  • Skill Development: Your supervisor will facilitate opportunities for you to enhance your interview, storytelling, and graphic design skills through workshops, webinars and peer-to-peer learning. 

 

  • Technical Support: If the project requires specific software or tools, your supervisor will arrange for you to have access to these technologies, along with training if needed. 

 

  • Project Management Assistance: Assistance in managing the project timeline, keeping organized, and prioritizing tasks will be provided to ensure the project is completed efficiently and effectively.

Hart House is a centre for experiential education outside the classroom at the University of Toronto.
