Details

Welcome to Fleming College's Applied Project Management course! Our program equips students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and techniques to effectively plan, execute, monitor, control, and close applied projects. Sponsored by organizations and individuals external to the college, our projects offer a real-world learning experience that challenges students to demonstrate their understanding and application of project management principles. This course is a capstone activity exclusively available to high-performing students, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their abilities.

Deliverables

Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization. 


Some final project deliverables might include: 

  1. A 10-15 minute presentation or video on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations
  3. Formalized documentation of processes (Instruction Manual, etc.)
  4. Multimedia deliverables (Social media posts, videos, podcasts, etc.).
  5. Weekly/Monthly project deliverables aligned with your project needs.


Project Examples

Learners in groups of 3-4 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their research and analysis.


Ideal projects may have a clear business problem statement and can be research-focused, task-focused, or a mix of both. We value partners who are open to negotiating project scopes to ensure meaningful learning experiences for our students.


Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to: 

  1. Project planning activities (scope planning, risk planning, etc.).
  2. Project scheduling activities, including schedule maintenance.
  3. Team coordination and facilitation activities.
  4. Cost management and tracking activities.
  5. Project change management activities.
