Literature Summary Research Assistant in Environmental Science
Our research lab aims to publish review papers as a first step of conducting our own original research. Among these papers are systematic reviews of relevant literature, which analyze the progression of research within our field. We would like to collaborate with students to support our literature review process by categorizing papers and summarizing important findings in the topic of environmental science. This allows us to extract and process data more easily. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our research and the types of academic papers that we are interested in. Reading studies relevant to our area of research. Applying the categorization scheme to classify relevant studies. Summarizing important results from relevant studies. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Working with researchers to draft a publication based on the results.
Lean Startup Business Strategy Development
Our team has noticed that our product development and operational processes are not as efficient as they have the potential to be. We want to simplify these processes to make them more “lean” in order to make them less costly and more adaptable to customer feedback at a fast pace. In this project, students will focus on evaluating our operations and identifying internal issues that are causing processes to be too timely or costly. Mapping out operational processes using Business Process Model Notation and notation (BPMN), and evaluating each step and the resources it consumes. Identifying bottlenecks in our operational processes. Researching solutions to each unique problem identified in the mapping process. Creating a proposal with recommendations for improvements and an implementation plan for how we would incorporate the solutions. Creating a second BPMN model of operational processes with the proposed solution(s).
Market Analysis for Tree Nurseries and Reforestation Initiatives in North America
MiON Forest is looking to enhance its understanding of the current market landscape for tree nurseries and reforestation initiatives. The goal of this project is to conduct a comprehensive market analysis that will provide insights into industry trends, key players, and potential growth opportunities. Learners will apply their classroom knowledge of market research methodologies to gather and analyze data on consumer preferences, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the environmental sector. This project will help MiON Forest identify strategic opportunities for expansion and collaboration. The project is designed to be completed remotely, allowing learners to develop skills in virtual collaboration and data analysis tools.
