Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The primary objective of this project is to harness students' insights, event planning and marketing skills to formulate a tailored and strategic plan which our staff team can implement in order to produce two networking events for business and property owners within the Yonge North York area.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop a mission statement or a few bullet points of strategic objectives for the event.
  • Create a strategic event concept that would motivate and interest our business and commercial property owners to participate.
  • Propose slightly different approaches to each of the 2 event days in this networking series pilot.
  • Propose activities that could take place at the events to foster networking and partnership building, as well as spark solutions for challenges facing the business community such as high costs, low office vacancy, etc.

Detailed Event Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive plans, including logistics, high level budgets, venues and schedules.
  • Provide them in an organized manners such as a spreadsheet.

.Marketing:

  • Develop template marketing materials (i.e. signage, newsletter banner, etc.) and communications for the networking event (i.e. email template for Property Manager distribution).
  • Create one sponsorship deck or 1-2 pager for the event.
  • Outline strategies for each pop up for collecting worker emails as part of the event and encourage following on social media.

Project Evaluation:

  • Provide a description of event outcomes and measures of success (i.e. number of worker emails collected).
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Guidance and Mentorship:

  • Regular sessions and one-on-one mentoring for discussing project objectives and addressing queries. Additionally, a team chat is available for additional assistance.

Tool and Training Access:

  • Access is provided to budgeting tools, Canva, and organization accounts to enhance skill development.

Documentation Support:

  • Templates and guidance are offered for creating comprehensive project documents and reports.
About the company

The Yonge North York Business Improvement Area (BIA) was recently established and is one of over 80 BIAs in Toronto. Our organization is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors from our business community. Representing over 1600 business and commercial property members, with over 30,000 employees and 51,000 residents within our district, we are one of the largest BIA’s in Toronto.
