Details

Our organization is committed to serving COLAGErs/queerspawn (people with one or more LGBTQ+ caregiver/parent). In order to do so, we need to deepen our relationships and expand our fundraising efforts.

We would like to collaborate with a student intern project by project beginning with a fundraising event to help meet our goals.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Familiarizing themselves with our mission, values and goals.
  • Working to offset the costs of our established budget and increase the fundraising for each event.
  • Creating a plan of action and a detailed breakdown of tasks for volunteers to complete at the event.
  • Researching and soliciting in kind donations
  • Assisting in marketing and promoting our event.

Bonus steps in the process would also include:

  • Recommending improvements for future fundraising events.
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of our mission, values and goals
  • Creation/fine tuning of a plan of action
  • Communicate which items will be donated and which will need to be purchased
  • Have clear record keeping of in-kind donations (gift card numbers, logistics for picking up items, etc.
  • Breakdown/schedule of each event (who will be doing what when and where?)

Bonus steps would include:

  • Recommending areas of improvement for future events
  • Create ActBlue donation pages

Final deliverables should include

  • A budget breakdown and event plan.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our mission, values and goals
  • Our programs and fundraising events
  • Prior connections/relationships with businesses
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter
  • Template emails and sample scripts for phone calls
  • Access to spreadsheets and documents with background information related to each event
