What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal for the project is to create a prototype for a menstrual subscription box for women of color, under the company How She Flows, which is a part of The HillMar & Ash Group. The prototype should include a curated selection of new and innovative products related to menstruation and women's health, catering to the target audience's needs and preferences.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?


- Brainstorm a list of potential items to include in the subscription box.


- Research new and innovative products related to menstruation and women's health.


- Determine the optimal mix of necessity and luxury items to cater to the target audience.


- Sketch initial designs for the box layout and branding elements.


- Gather feedback from stakeholders and make adjustments to the design concepts.


- Create digital mockups of the box design using graphic design software.


- Research potential suppliers for each item included in the subscription box.


- Reach out to suppliers to inquire about pricing, MOQs, and delivery terms.


- Negotiate contracts with selected suppliers to ensure favorable terms for the business.


- Order samples of products from suppliers to use in the prototype.


- Assemble the prototype boxes using the sampled products and placeholder materials.


- Review the prototype boxes to ensure they meet quality standards and brand image.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Approach

To ensure timely and effective completion of the project, the following structured approach will be implemented:

  1. Regular Mentorship Sessions:
  • Weekly mentorship sessions will be scheduled to provide guidance, feedback, and support to the learners.
  • Mentors will be selected based on their expertise in project management, marketing, product development, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Mentors will be trained to address the specific needs and challenges faced by Women of Colour in the industry.
  1. Access to Relevant Databases and Technologies:
  • Learners will be provided access to databases containing market research, consumer demographics, and industry trends related to menstrual products and Women of Colour.
  • Technologies such as graphic design software, prototyping tools, and project management platforms will be made available to facilitate the development and execution of the project.
  1. Staff Time Allocation:
  • Dedicated staff members will be assigned to guide and support the learners throughout the project.
  • Project managers will oversee the overall progress and coordinate resources to ensure smooth execution.
  • Subject matter experts will be available for consultations and specialized assistance as needed.
  1. Inclusive and Representative Support:
  • The support provided will be culturally sensitive and tailored to the specific needs of Women of Colour.
  • Emphasis will be placed on inclusivity and representation throughout the project support process, ensuring that the voices and perspectives of Women of Colour are heard and respected.
