This co-op will engage Law Clerk students in two phased projects focused on mitigating legal risks for Leep while growing its roadmap:

  1. Phase 1: Patent Landscaping & Copyright Systems
  • Conduct prior-art searches for Leep’s novel features (collaborative remix editor, taste-matching algorithm).
  • Draft provisional patent applications for key innovations, emphasizing software/process claims.
  • Design a copyright ownership framework for user-generated remixes under Canada’s Copyright Act.
  1. Phase 2: Platform Compliance & Terms Automation
  • Develop jurisdiction-specific terms of service and privacy policies for Ontario, EU (GDPR), and California (CCPA).
  • Implement clickwrap agreements for high-risk features (monetization, AI training data consent).
  • Build a royalty-split calculator aligned with SOCAN tariff guidelines.
