What is the main goal for this project?

PROJECT DETAILS

Cold storage operators face myriad challenges that affect their bottom line, and most

companies are continually looking for ways to reduce costs, improve productivity, and attract new customers. Energy represents the second highest cost of operating in the cold storage industry – second only to labor. Energy Excellence Recognition Program addresses the need for a comprehensive energy management program in cold storage facilities by providing the tools for qualitative and quantitative assessment of a company’s efforts, resources to support the creation of an effective program, and recognition for companies that are proactively managing energy needs.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The goal of this project is to manage the evidence data for certificant companies. This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

- Understanding the Energy Excellence Recognition Program (EERP)

- Demonstrating EERP value to current certificants and future applicants.

- Developing market materials - powerpoint, press releases, etc. on the EERP analysis methods

- Manage two electronic tools in support of the EERP program. 1) Energy Management Assessment (EMA) assessing warehouse functions to meet established energy conservation goals and 2) Energy Review Model (ERM) to analyze cold storage facility’s electricity use.

- Inventory evidence data to award facilities that successfully complete the certification program.

PROJECT DELIVERABLES

- Presentation outlining the certification program and its benefits.

- Market materials for social media posting

- Award status for cold storage facilities

- Identification of potential applicants
