Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Local Grown Salads is an Indoor Vertical Farming company that plans to launch 200 Indoor Vertical Farms by December 2023.

This will be Uber/AirBnb hyper growth.

We have onboarded a team of10 Students who are acting as consultants to manage the B-Plan. We are looking for teams to deliver on individual parts.

We see organizing the company in the following way:

  • Local Grown Salads - This is the overall brand
  • LGS Tech - This is about the technology
  • LGS Farm Network - This is about targeting the channels to market
  • LGS Local Rollout - LGS PHL – Consumer driven local brand for Philadelphia, LGS BTL - Consumer driven local brand for Baltimore, LGS USVI - Consumer driven local brand for local brand for USVI, Etc.

We would like you to take a part of it - and run with it!

A quick overview of the business:

  • Each Farm produces 1,500,000 lbs. yearly of Herbs, Greens and Small Vegetables
  • Revenue per farm is $3,000,000 to $12,000,000 depending on the product mix
  • Our products are Organic, GMO free, Pesticide Free, Herbicide Free, and Fungicide Free
  • The farms will be a mixed of Licensed and un-licensed farms
  • We grow over 60 different products
  • Our product competitors are companies like Dole and Fresh Express
  • Our technology competitors have valuations north of $1B
  • ESG/CSR is built into our business model.
  • We gave launched in Philadelphia and have a lot of experience building up relationships and learning what we need to do,
  • We have extensive marketing materials available
  • We have extensive technology being developed
  • We are working with over a dozen universities and colleges with over 200 students. We completely rock Riipen

The detailed plan will include the following:

  • A detailed week by week plan to achieve the goals
  • An understanding of the resources needed

Questions that need to be anwered?

  • Where should we locate our Farms
  • Who are our local partners for each of the locations?
  • How do identify and attract potential Licensees for each city?
  • What else do we need to have in place?
  • What does the detailed financial model look like?

This is an important and complex project. It is not for the feint of heart. This is for teams that can "Take the Ball and Run".

We expect it to be a number of teams each taking a part of it, owning that part, and making it part of the whole.

Teams will need the ability to work with other teams outside their own university.

We do need a single Team to take on the management of the project and coordinate with the other teams.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Regular meetings on as needed basis.
