Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The expected outcome of the project is to successfully organize and execute a sustainability event that not only raises awareness but also engages and educates business owners and workers about sustainable practices.


Yonge North York BIA had actively joined the CleanTO every April fo over 3 years to gather workers, residents as well as business owners together to improve the Yonge North York Corridor streetscape and park spaces.


We are seeking an event planner to revision our past event into a new format and offering that will better engage our membership and community.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Conceptualization and Research:

  • Develop innovative concepts for cost-effective and innovative sustainability or clean up event with a focus on workers, property owners and business owners.

Detailed Event Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive plans, including logistics, high level budgets and schedules.
  • Provide them in an organized manners such as a spreadsheet.

Marketing:

  • Develop templates for marketing materials (i.e. signage, newsletter banner, postcard, etc.).
  • Create a one page sponsorship offering and list of potential sponsors. Conduct initial outreach to the approved shortlist while cc'd our Marketing Manager.
  • Outline strategies for collecting worker emails as part of the event and encouraging following on social media.

Project Evaluation:

  • Provide a description of event outcomes and measures of success.


At the end of the project, the BIA will have a revisioned event concept, a complete revised event plan, initial sponsor outreach undertaken and new event marketing material designs.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Guidance and Mentorship:

  • Regular sessions and one-on-one mentoring for discussing project objectives and addressing queries. Additionally, a team chat is available for additional assistance.

Tool and Training Access:

  • Access is provided to budgeting tools, Canva, a custom email and organization accounts to enhance skill development.

Documentation Support:

  • Templates and guidance are offered for creating project documents and reports.

The Yonge North York Business Improvement Area (BIA) was recently established and is one of over 80 BIAs in Toronto. Our organization is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors from our business community.
