Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Perform market research to support the creation of educational materials related to the professional dog care industry.


  1. Collect information from multiple sources related to the professional dog care industry.
  2. Interns will condense and analyse the collected information
  3. Present the data in a cohesive document
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

This project will have 5 roles. Here are the descriptions and tasks:


Team Data Collection (two interns)

  1. The first task will be to develop the structure of collecting the information using a Google Sheet. The company will provide the column headers and the interns will design the collecting Sheet.
  2. Populate the sheet with data from multiple sources as provided by the company’s initial sources. The interns can suggest additional sources during this process.


Team Data Analysis (two interns)

  1. This team will develop both a numerical and descriptive analysis of the data set. Data synthesis, segmentations and key takeaways presented in a Google Doc will be the deliverable for this team. 


Graphic Designer (one intern)

  1. This intern will visualise the work of the Analysis team. The deliverable will include both text copy and graphs and charts that help communicate the data set and its analysis. This intern should use software intended for document design, such as Adobe In-Design. 


How will you support learners in completing the project?

This is a crucial project for the company, so the business owner will be readily available for regular virtual meetings and guidance via email or telephone. We are passionate not only about the delivery of the final project, but also the process of interns applying their degree-related skills, building upon their critical thinking, and co-creating the data set with interns who have different but complementary skills and talents. We hope this project results in synergy!


The team of 5 interns is designed to be a supportive network all on its own, as each role depends upon the other. It is our goal that leadership, communication, and efficiency are qualities that emerge from this project.


The company will provide access to the data sources, and will be engaged as the project moves through collection, analysis and visualization. We are very passionate about the dog walking industry and creating new information about the field's challenges and successes. We look forward to breaking new ground with this team!


Lastly, all documents will be stored, accessed and organized in a Google Drive folder.
