Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We are a small private College looking to develop an online Sharepoint communication hub that will map out different training opportunities and resources for College staff. This hub will include a number of parts, such as (but not limited to): links to valuable online resources, discussion forums, training dates, videos, and files. The outcomes for this project includes:

1. Research - review similar hubs at other institutions to help design a layout, as well as generate ideas.

2. Review data collected from previous survey of staff on training needs, and conduct further surveys as needed.

3. Draw out a draft outline of a training plan for the following areas:

  • Cyber-Security
  • Privacy
  • Indigenous Community Awareness
  • Gender Awareness
  • Basic Computer Skills

4. Help build and design the plan in sharepoint, by adding webparts, links, and available content.

About the company

Over the last 30+ years, this private non-profit College has educated over 40,000 adult learners. Put simply, we are a student-centered institution. By this, we mean that all decisions are made in our students’ long-term best interest. We are proud to say that we have achieved among the highest student program completion rates in Alberta (over 80%) and our students have achieved higher than average marks on academic national exams.

Columbia’s unique approach to adult education is designed to help ensure that employers are able to hire individuals who are not only able to perform their duties and responsibilities but are better able to solve work-related problems, communicate more effectively, make important workplace decisions, interact more effectively as team members, and work more collaboratively with other professionals in the best interest of their internal customers (fellow employees) and external customers (patients, clients, students, and colleagues).
