Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal of the project is to train the student on HPLC analysis and QuEChERS, a validated sample processing method used globally for the extraction of pesticides and small molecules from plant tissue. Our company has an Agilent HPLC that runs plant samples daily, and attention to detail is required in order to make sure that the system catches errors if they occur.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The learner will be involved in every aspect pertaining to the samples. This includes creating samples, and preparing them, a step which includes freeze drying, using QuEChERS, and centrifuging. The learner will also be involved in HPLC analysis of the samples. This will include 40-60 tasks over the entirety of the 80 hours.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

We will give our time and experience as well as provide the learner with literature and lab equipment. The learner will receive guidance from experienced lab employees. This is an in-person project.
