Details

This project will focus specifically on the self-service kiosk industry, examining how video-driven decision-making can enhance automation in retail environments such as convenience stores, fast food outlets, and vending machines. Instead of broadly covering multiple industries, students will concentrate on market research and prototyping for a single use case, making the project more structured and feasible within an academic setting.

Students will conduct research on industry feasibility, develop a conceptual prototype, and present business insights for implementing an interactive video-based self-service kiosk.

Deliverables

Market Feasibility Study

  • Analyze how interactive video technology could enhance self-service kiosks.
  • Research user preferences, potential benefits, and technological feasibility in retail automation.

  • Develop a wireframe or digital mockup of an interactive self-service kiosk using Figma, Adobe XD, or another prototyping tool.
  • Simulate video-triggered user pathways and showcase how customers would interact with product selection, recommendations, and checkout.

Business Viability & Scalability Plan

  • Identify potential challenges, costs, and industry adoption hurdles.
  • Propose a phased implementation plan, including potential partnerships and revenue models.

Final Report & Presentation

  • Deliver a structured industry report detailing research findings, technology potential, and business implications.
  • Present a 10-15 minute summary showcasing the conceptual prototype and key market insights.
