SUMMARY

BC Hospice Palliative Care Association is a not-for-profit, membership organization, which has been representing individuals and organizations committed to promoting and delivering hospice/palliative care to British Columbians since 1986

Each year, BCHPCA hosts an educational event that focuses on topics of interest to healthcare professionals, hospice society staff and volunteers, and members of allied organizations who are committed to quality end-of-life care.

Using real company data, students will spot trends and relationships between the COVID 19 impact survey we did last year and this year. Students will submit their recommendations and conclusions to the decision-makers of the company.

WHAT WE WANT STUDENTS TO DO?

We’d like students to help analyze our datasets to draw helpful insights.

From this analysis, we hope to not only improve our processes and understanding but also gain insights that will greatly enhance our strategy. These insights will be directly related to business outcomes.

Here are some of the topics we’d like students to explore throughout this project:

  • Core issues we can use to change the funding processes.
  • Analyze your data to spot trends and relationships among variables
  • Create tables and graphs of summary statistics of key variables
  • Identify trends and potential predictive mitigation strategies.
  • Identifying and implementing any necessary technology infrastructure

Possible project examples include, but are not limited to:

  • analysis of COVID impact survey data to determine the relationship between this and last year
  • creating a summary of key customer demographic statistics
  • summarizing results of a customer survey to identify which characteristics are associated with different results

The final project will include (as part of a 5-10 page document):

  • A summary of important and insightful information discovered from the available data
  • Tables and graphs of important statistics and relationships
  • A summary of conclusions and any recommendations based on the data and information obtained
