Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We are looking for assistance in leading and producing a podcast series where undergraduate and graduate students can talk about their science research in lay language for youth audience.


We believe this project will include:

  • Coordinating and leading a team of graduate students
  • Develop and produce podcast series
  • Collaborate and network with graduate and undergraduate science students
  • Knowledge translation of post-secondary science projects for youth
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  • Recruiting graduate students to join the podcast team
  • Recruiting and interviewing graduate and undergraduate research students for interviews
  • Developing interview guides/scripts
  • Audio editing of the podcast recordings
  • Adding in clarification pieces to ensure content is comprehensible
  • Sharing and promoting podcast series
  • Publication of podcast: image, summary, upload
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Through weekly meetings/virtual updates and texts, the podcast team will be able to connect directly with the leaders (and any other teammates) to consult for mentorship and supervision throughout the project. During the weekly meetings, questions, challenges, and ideas will be discussed in detail with the whole team.

Through friendly tournaments and thought-provoking workshops, we hope to increase youth engagement with literacy by creating memorable moments with their fellow peers. Working with schools and libraries across Ontario, we hope to support underserved communities and their youth.
