What is the main goal for this project?

The Indigenous Youth Engagement Program is intended to help engage Indigenous youth housed at Omamoo Wango Gamik (OWG) a housing program, youth formerly in foster care are housed in a new, multi-generational housing facility that provides wraparound support along with access to Elders, ceremony and other cultural supports. The program will develop engagement activities to help the youth meet other members of the housing initiatives, get to know the staff at OWG and meet with and learn from resident Elders. Activities included in the program include but are not limited to:

Developing and managing a discord group

Organizing various activities online and in person (ie movie nights, game nights)

Liaising with OWG staff on the needs of youth

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will meet with the project supervisor weekly to discuss the activities and to get assistance on planning. Students will also work with the OWG staff to learn about appropriate engagement activities with the youth program
