Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Objective

The main objective of this project is to enhance our existing mobile application by facilitating seamless engagement for users seeking relatable communities and valuable conversations around beauty and wellness journeys. As a Mobile Front End Developer Intern, you will play a pivotal role in testing, iterating, and refining our app to ensure an optimal user experience.

The problem we are solving is the lack of relatable communities and meaningful beauty and wellness conversations for young people. The prevailing societal pressures often lead to feelings of isolation, judgment, and inadequacy. We are providing a platform where users can connect with individuals who share similar values, interests, and experiences, fostering supportive, inclusive, and empowering conversations.

Opportunity for Future Engagement

Additionally, this internship presents an opportunity for the learner to potentially transition into a permanent role as a member of our team. Successful completion of the project and demonstration of exceptional skills and dedication may lead to consideration.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Project activities include:

  • Implement UI Designs and UX Flows: Translate provided UI designs and UX flows into functional and visually appealing interfaces within the mobile application.

  • Implement Feature Iterations: Collaborate with the development team to implement new features and iterate on existing ones based on user feedback and project requirements.

  • Write Tests and Apply Modifications: Help develop & execute tests to ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of the application. Apply necessary modifications based on test results and feedback.

  • Code Project and Test for Bugs: Test the application for bugs and address any identified issues.

  • Write Product Documentation: Create detailed documentation outlining the functionality, features, and technical specifications of the mobile application. This documentation will serve as a reference for future development and maintenance tasks.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will have access to:

  • A dedicated Slack channel with access to team members as needed,
  • Github
  • Jira
  • Access to user testing groups
  • Direct connection to the team for mentorship and supervision throughout the project
  • In addition, students will have weekly meetings with staff

The Peer Circle App is a beauty and wellness tech start-up focused on revolutionizing the way young people engage in meaningful conversations about their own beauty and wellness. We know how hard it is to find a safe space to connect and authentically express yourself with people who understand and support the real you without fear of judgment or pressure. With no judgment, no pressure, and the opportunity to be seen, heard, and understood, we are shaping a community where everyone can embrace their true selves and feel inspired by the journeys of others.
