The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial or Accounting Services) program provides students with the knowledge and skills to work in the financial services sector. The financial services sector continues to grow and adapt to the needs of clients using technology. Studies are poised to successfully work in financial planning, call centre operations, investments and risk management and other senior finance and accounting positions.
*Students are available between September 4th - December 18th and require a total of 360 hours.
*This is a co-op/internship which requires mentorship from a supervisor who is experienced/trained in Finance and/or Accounting.

Project Examples
Students of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial or Accounting Services) degree students (either individually or in a team) are prepared to successfully contribute to a wide range of business sectors and organizations including banks, other financial institutions, federal, provincial and municipal government offices, and service organizations. Appropriate co-op positions include: • Analyst, International Tax • Supervisor, Accounts Payable • Senior Accounting Clerk • Client Portfolio Analyst • Senior Financial Analyst • Financial Officer • Assistant Portfolio Manager.
Students' abilities include:
1. Communicate information and concepts clearly and concisely using the most appropriate methods for the message, its purpose and its audience.
2. Work effectively in teams to achieve desired goals and outcomes by managing projects, resolving conflicts, addressing differing points of view and demonstrating self-awareness, self-confidence and self-management.
3. Solve business problems by interpreting data from primary and secondary sources in qualitative and quantitative analyses.
4. Evaluate risk, economics, environmental, ethical, legal, political, sociological and technical factors to support strategic decisions.
5. Formulate and communicate sound arguments using critical evaluation of research, personal and societal contexts.
6. Develop solutions to financial problems using relevant business and statistical models.
7. Assess the overall financial performance of an individual or organization and prepare appropriate financial reports.
8. Adhere to appropriate professional, legal and ethical codes of conduct and comply with government and industry regulations.
9. Use appropriate business software to manage data, analyze financial information, and create business reports.
10. Demonstrate awareness of uncertainty, ambiguity and limits of knowledge and how these might influence analysis and decisions.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Mentorship is required. Employers need to be trained/experienced in finance and/or accounting and willing to provide a supportive learning environment.
