Details

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Gannon University Dahlkemper School of Business to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Students in this program/course examine the technologies, information, and analytics critical for effective management and control of modern firms. This course focuses on dynamic decision-making and optimization approaches for complex decisions and strategies for data-driven decision-making. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the data analytics process and the skills necessary to translate business problems into actionable proposals that strengthen an organization’s competitive position in the marketplace.

Deliverables

Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the students and the organization.

Some final project deliverables might include:

  1. A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations
Project Examples

Students in groups of 4-6 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding how organizations utilize data to progress their missions, visions, and goals.
  • Analyzing data and applying analytic skills to identify business problems and propose data-driven recommendations or solutions.
  • Understand how data analytics tools, models, and technologies are employed to extract valuable intelligence and insight to guide strategic planning and business strategy.
  • Apply data science tools to uncover business opportunities and manage risks.
  • Oral, written, and visual communications appropriate for professional business entities.
  • Interpret and communicate results of analytics projects into actions that meet desired outcomes.
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address students’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.

Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.

Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.
