Details

MBA students groups will work with a data set of your choice to provide a visualization, analysis, and actionable recommendations for your management team.

Deliverables

Final project deliverables include:

  1. A 20-page report with data analysis and recommendations.
  2. Each team will make a presentation to the class and to the partner organization
  3. The final report will be submitted to the instructor and to the partner organization.
Project Examples

Starting in September 2020, first year MBA students working in teams of 4-5 will spend 80 to 100 hours per group working on an analytics project of your choosing.

Using a data set provided by your organization, they will apply data analysis methods to help your organization derive impactful insights and make more informed decisions.

Based on the information you offer and your goals, they will provide you with a relevant visualization of your data, thorough analysis, and actionable recommendations on topics of your choice.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing sales information to assess the effectiveness of a program or promotion.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of a staff training program to understand its impact on absenteeism.
  • Evaluating historical sales data to identify market trends and provide predictions.
  • Analyzing data on buyers to identify key markets or challenges.
  • Analyzing consumer feedback to identify key challenges and areas of strength.
  • Identifying trends in demand to help with forecasting
  • Analyzing data on customer satisfaction to highlight key areas for improvement

Note: Students are able to sign an NDA, as required.

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

The organization is invited to present their company and proposed project to students using Zoom early September.

Provide a dedicated contact person who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

The organization must be available to attend the end of semester project presentations on Zoom.

Minimum of 2-4 interactions with the students (approximately 4-6 hours over the duration of the project).
