Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from National University to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the term connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Students in this program will be introduced to the concepts of human resources in healthcare organizations, such as training, motivation and direction. Elements of employee selection, compensation, financial incentives, work standards, and leadership principles in healthcare organizations are considered.

Deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the internship/capstone. However, these deliverables must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start.

Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship/capstone, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Student skills and competencies include, but are not limited to:

  • Describing management of human resources within healthcare organizations.
  • Tracing the evolution of contemporary healthcare human resources management.
  • Identifying current trends and critical human resource management issues associated with various categories of healthcare professionals in healthcare organizations.
  • Listing the social, legal, and economic environments impacting management of human resources in healthcare.
  • Discussing various aspects of human resources management such as employee motivation, leadership development and practices, conflict resolution strategies, change management, and development of a customer-centered focus.
  • Illustrating technical healthcare human resource management functions: including job design and analysis, staff recruitment and selection methods, employee training and development, performance management techniques, and principles of compensation and fringe benefit management.
  • Reviewing legal and regulatory issues involved in organized labor/collective bargaining units.

PROJECTS May include:

  • Target market research
  • Industry size and market potential
  • Competitive landscape
  • Market Gap Analysis
  • Strategic positioning of our brand
  • Build a prospect company target list that meets our investment criteria
