Students will deliver an Integrated Project Plan (IPP) that includes the following components:

  • Stakeholder Register
  • Ethics Policy
  • Project Scope, resources, activities, and schedule
  • Quality and Communication plans
  • Risk register with contingencies
  • Integrated Change Control plan

Project Examples

Students can create a project plan for a wide variety of project types. Event planning, construction projects, operational planning. Some example projects include:

Moving and Occupancy Logistics Plan

The City of Boston is performing a major renovation of a historic building that houses City offices. Students will develop a high-level logistics plan to support the move in and set up of multiple City departments who are currently working in surrounding buildings. The goal is to produce a plan that will define the activities associated with the project, define the sequencing of those activities, key stakeholders, and a proposed schedule and budget.

Strategic Roadmap

This project is geared towards creating an integrated project plan that will serve as a strategic roadmap for a new Project Management Consulting startup. Students will research and define the owner’s project management services, comprehend the market landscape, and identify operational best practices. The scope includes a thorough analysis of competitors, tools like project management information systems, and key elements such as budgeting, marketing methodology, and financial planning. Students should consider strategy and recommendations for determining the scope, schedule, communication, budget, risks, quality, procurement, and human resources planning for the developing company. This project will lay the foundation for informed decision-making, sustainable business growth, while also answering critical questions surrounding market viability, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning.

Virtual Conference Planning

A national foundation’s mission is to provide access to education, tools and resources in order to eliminate preventable recreational boating accidents. Project participants will develop end-to-end project plans for the organization’s virtual conference, keeping in mind the event’s broad audience: park rangers, business owners, civic group members, or boating families. Students will research and recommend a specific online and conference platform (and alternatives if difficulties occur), determine an engaging format for the presentations, identify specific topics or content to share, recommend a conference length, assess whether a fee should be charged for participation and create a timeline which includes activities and milestones to facilitate the execution of the conference.
