Groups will have a 30 minute meeting with the client. In this meetings, groups will be required to present 3 ideas for training, ask questions to the clients, and finalize their plan for the training session.

In order to retain talent, your organization must have a robust training and development program. In this project, students will apply current theory and practice for employee training and development within an organizational setting. Students will examine a full spectrum of training and development praxis, from basic on-the-job training to the use of technology and blended approaches to corporate training, development and succession planning. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.
Learners
The midpoint project deliverables might include:
- Information on the needs analysis
- Examination and identification of trainable competencies related to your organizations core values
- Providing 3 training option on competencies related to your organizations core values, which should include information on:
- Training objective, training design, and training delivery
4. Out of the three, one training option will be selected via discussion with team group and client representative
The final project deliverables might include:
- 20 minute training program on pre-determined competency (as selected in the midpoint)
- A detailed report including their research, including but not limited to:
- Introduction on the topic, needs analysis, training objective, training design, training method, training delivery (including training activities), job aids, training evaluation, cost and benefit analysis, and next steps.

Project Examples
Requirements
Beginning in February, students in groups of 4 will work with your company to identify and refine your training needs based on their research, they will provide you with 3 alternative training options, which one of these options will be selected based on your input to develop a 20 minute live or pre-recorded training session for your employees. In addition, students will be required to submit a training manual that will include information pertaining the needs analysis, benefits of the training, training design, training delivery, job aids, and training evaluation.
Project activities might include but are not limited to:
- Describing organizational learning, individual learning, and motivation.
- Describing the needs analysis.
- Examining and evaluating different options for delivering organizational and individual training.
- Comparing the costs and benefits of organizational training and development programs.
- Developing a 20 minute session training program, based on empirically driven research
- Evaluating organizational training program and staff development.
- Providing job aids for trainees in the workforce
- Providing information on the next stages of the training program
- Providing references all sources used in developing the training manual and training session
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Be available for a quick meeting (by phone or videoconference) with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
