Overview
Details

Looking to elevate your business, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from the University of Toronto (Mississauga) in the Economics department to be your in-person or virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed in-person or with virtual communication tools.

Students in this program are poised to succeed in integrated work areas showcasing the economic expertise they have gained through their coursework.

Students are required to complete 200 hours of placement between September 2021 to April 2022.

These students are looking for both paid and unpaid internships. Please indicate in your project submission which you are able to offer.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, virtual internships are preferred.

Learner skills
Business consulting, Data analysis, Research, Business strategy, Competitive analysis
Deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the internship. However, these deliverables must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the internship.

Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates a structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Project examples that students can complete and areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Wealth management/Financial Planning
  • Working and researching capital markets data
  • Data Collection & Analytics
  • Research/Market Research
  • Policy
  • Strategy Consulting
  • Private Equity/Trade/Risk Analyst
  • Financial Accounting
  • Economic Data Analysis
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup.

Provide ongoing support and mentorship to students throughout the internship. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact no less than once a week.

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the administrator to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the internship
