Deliverables

Project Management:

A completed project plan document and a chance to guide the components most critical to your project, including some or all of the following:

  • Project Kick-Off deck that you can present to stakeholders
  • Scope Statement
  • Work Breakdown Structure
  • Budget
  • Schedule
  • Communications/Marketing Plan
  • Risk Management Plan
Project Examples

We would be delighted to consider your project and will follow this approximate review process:

  1. Please suggest a project scope in one of the areas listed below.
  2. Once we garner interest from companies, students will pick their top 3 companies and get assigned to one in consultation with the course instructor.
  3. This opportunity encompasses various courses, and instructors will reach out with specific dates and course details once a match has been made.
  4. This course is intended to broaden students' possibility of receiving a co-op, so industry partners must agree to interview a student for a potential co-op in the fall or spring.

Market Research:

  • Research a target market segment and/or consumer base for insights into best practices and marketing potential.
  • Provide comparative analysis for a given market against other similar entities.
  • Include recommendations and examples for business generation and outreach.
  • Great for: start-ups, tech, finance, quite literally any company!

Business Development Planning:

  • Develop a project plan to identify an aspect of your firm’s current practices.
  • Research and recommend improved or additional actions to increase business relationships and/or practices.
  • Research and recommend additional strategies to develop new practices.
  • Indicate suggestions for tools that might help in implementing the plan.
  • Great for: early-stage start-ups, nonprofits, customer-centric companies, etc.

Data Analytics:

  • Compiling, cleaning, processing, warehousing, etc., of any data relevant to your operations and goals.
  • Research data tools and recommendations for automating, collecting, building, and/or improving your future/ongoing analytics processing needs.
  • Great for: healthcare, innovation, regulatory, sales, digital technology-focused companies, etc.

Project Management:

Students will work with you to understand your project goals and constraints and apply project management theory to develop a detailed action plan. Project examples include, but are not limited to:

  • A plan for a new product launch
  • A plan for a new service launch
  • A plan for a client or employee event
  • A plan for software or system implementation
  • A plan for the release of a new pricing model
  • A plan for a new employee rewards and recognition program

Health/Nursing

Student consultants will help your organization research, develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based interventions to improve community health, prevent disease, and achieve health equity. In sum, students will provide their expertise to uncover insights into challenges or opportunities specific to your organization.

  • Framing the problem and helping public health programs monitor their progress, analyze data, and seek ways to improve the programs to improve public health outcomes.
  • Developing Health education curriculum, training, and tools/materials for organizations or members of the public
  • Providing Program recommendations to address health disparities or concerns
  • Create health communication materials, including brochures, presentations, and social media outreach
  • Identifying and addressing health disparities using data.
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone call with our experiential team to initiate your relationship, confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course, and explore additional opportunities for partnership with the University.

Commit to a minimum of one hour per week, over six to eight weeks’ worth of group interactions with your assigned student team remotely. These meetings with you are likely to question/answer sessions or requests for additional information or clarification based on project content.

Provide a dedicated contact to answer occasional emails or phone calls to address significant student questions promptly (a 48 hour response time.)

Commit to completing a short formative (midpoint) survey and summative (final) survey for the overseeing experiential learning team.

Virtual work engagement with students and provision of all necessary materials to set students up for project execution success, including any relevant context, data, examples of deliverables.

Commitment to providing feedback on project milestones (Project Plan, Draft Deliverable, Final Project Deliverable) and virtual attendance at students’ final project presentation.

Companies agree to interview a student for a potential co-op in the fall or spring.
