Consolidation of 3PL into one facility review of logistics practises

Ideally we would like an overview of our current operations and how they can be adapted to work within our new larger warehouse space. Key Goals might include: Options for floor plans for current racking with an eye to efficient handling and order flow. Review of current logistics practices with a goal to obtain lower costs, better process and visibility. Recommendations for new Org chart for the new facility with job descriptions.

Sugar Beach Creative space

We're looking for a home for our Sales and Design Teams. We're moving into a new office space thats a finished office space, with carpet and walls. We're looking to turn into a productive and creative workspace that allows collaboration, focus and stimulates creativity. We're located on Queen's Quay right across from sugar beach, with great views of Toronto Harbour. The space currently is just over 2000 sq. ft. with floor to ceiling glass on two walls, looking to the south and east. We're looking for a design that fits our needs today but allows us to grow as we add companies and people.

Wool Ball Felting Process Improvement

We manufacture wool dryer balls through a felting process using raw wool. As part of the process, the wool is formed into a pre-form ball and placed in a disposable elasticized nylon to hold it in place during the felting process. The goal is to speed up the process and find a reusable alternative to the current method used. The felting process is 10-15 mins. of agitation in hot water and mild detergent solution that effectively shrinks and binds the wool into a solid ball. After the wool is sufficiently felted, the string of balls is removed and the nylon is cut and peeled away from the ball and disposed of. This is a labor-intensive step that destroys the nylon which needs to be disposed of. We are looking for a reusable alternative to the nylon that will allow the water to penetrate the ball during the felting process and be easily removed from the felted ball and be reused multiple times. Our thinking is a custom-molded casing may work depending on the material. Here are several of the challenges to overcome: How to allow maximum water flow into the ball but not have the wool be pulled through? How important is it that the casing is flexible? What is the best material to use to construct the casing? How will the wool be placed in the casing and later removed?

Project feedback
Overall, our project with The Forever Group has been an engaging and enlightening experience. It was a pleasure to meet the founder, Robert French, and learn about the company he has built over the years. The scope of the project was an amazing opportunity for us to apply our knowledge and skills in our field study, while helping the company with a real problem that they are facing. Though it was a challenge, knowing that our ideas could potentially be introduced into their operations was really gratifying. Connecting with Robert was easy and professional, and we never had any trouble trying to get ahold of him through email (even though we know he's a busy guy). In particular, visiting their warehouse for a site tour genuinely added to our experience because we got to see firsthand how they operate and meet all the amazing people working there. Not only were they more than comfortable contributing to our study, but they were prepared to answer all our questions and provided us with useful insight for our analysis. In addition, we greatly appreciate the extra steps Robert took to support us (from providing sample merchandise to giving career advice/guidance) and especially for taking the time out of his schedule to drive over to Waterloo and attend/contribute to our in-class presentation. All in all, we are grateful to have pursued this project and excited to apply the lessons learned to our future endeavours. We would like to thank Robert and everyone at The Forever Group for this experience!
