Open Cities Project

We are looking for students to complete a scan of the justice systems in the 25 top largest cities in the county to determine what if any data is available for the public to access from throughout every level of the local criminal justice system. The Chicago Justice Project seeks to open data from justice agencies from call for police service through incarceration. Students will spend time reviewing the websites of local and state level justice agencies seeking to understand what if any data the agencies or governments make available for the public to access while also capturing any data that is made available. This project will serve the following purposes:1. Help us prioritize how we expand our transparency efforts around the country. 2. Will serve as the basis for an online tool we will be building to help communities around the country understand the accessibility of justice system data from around the county.
