The Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce first formed in 1949 and began as a group of businesses, professionals, and other interested people who organized to work together to improve business and build a better community. In 1960, the Chamber enlarged to include the Township of Saltfleet and changed its name to the Stoney Creek and Saltfleet Chamber of Commerce.
In 1984 the Township of Stoney Creek became the City of Stoney Creek, amalgamating Saltfleet into the new city, and the Chamber reverted back to its original name Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce.
On January 1, 2001, the new city of Hamilton was formed from the amalgamation of Hamilton and its five neighbouring municipalities: Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook, and Stoney Creek.
Despite this amalgamation the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce continues to operate as independent organizations. - Number of employees
