Podcast Production - The Interpreter's Lab
Since podcasts are becoming an increasingly popular content medium, our company hopes to capitalize on this by creating our own. In this project, students will collaborate with us to take advantage of trending media and create a season of our own podcast. We would like students to deliver a 5-episode podcast series based on our company’s nice to resonate with our target audience. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Collaborating with the project manager to form a name and a theme for the podcast, and a topic for each episode. Script various components of each podcast episode such as the introduction, welcome, call to action, and outro. Create cover art for the podcast. Research and plan what will be discussed on an episode-by-episode basis. Record and edit each episode. Facilitating special guest appearances in one or more episodes.
Digital Content Creation
Positions available: 4 We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We want a student to identify, and structure a promotional video or series of videos that we can use for social media and on our website that promotes and explains our work. The Interpreter’s Lab (Shifting Pictures Inc.) was founded on two principles, that quality education for language interpreters is essential for multilingual nations, and that such education is accessible and responsive. The Interpreter’s Lab provides core education and professional development in a blended learning format – combining virtual, synchronous and asynchronous courses for bilinguals to become skilled at the profession of interpreting in specialized settings; health, legal, and public services. We moved to a blended, online model in 2019. This shift to the online world has necessitated more visual content and explainer type videos to instil confidence in taking our online courses. The field of interpreting services involves and includes the practitioners (interpreters), and also the end-users (lawyers, doctors, nurses, judges, social workers, etc.). As we expand our brand, we hope to also become more aware of the needs and knowledge of the end-users since they are an important factor in the success of our students and our business. In many ways we can be considered a start-up as our business model has changed dramatically, and now includes and hope to integrate more technical platforms. While we have been providing educational services since 2012, we only recently went virtual (2019 was our first full year online) and so we still have the feel and needs of a start-up. The new business model holds many opportunities for growth, but a better understanding of our market(s) is a necessary foundational step. We hope that an intern will be able to support our work by designing and implementing online email automations for new and existing students. Also, we hope that this internship opportunity will bring us more seamless communication our clients and students and deliver even more value to our client base. To accomplish this, we expect the student(s) will: Primarily work on the design and content creation of a video or video series (short videos for social media and website) Additionally, a) write blog articles, email newsletters/sequences and other content pieces on assigned topics b) assist with a social media video launch to promote our organization And including: a) Evaluate recent successful user-generated campaigns, preferably in our sector b) Identify media outlets that are most beneficial to share our story We are able to provide access to multiple stakeholders and informants to facilitate the work of the team, should it be necessary. As well, we can provide numerous examples of similar business (different in scale/quality/etc.) in other parts of the world and/or comparable business in Canada. Ultimately, you will be working on content creation for our organization, including video, social media, and other collateral that we can use as go-to marketing tools. If you like the sound of our culture, and are ready to tackle this challenge with us, then we'd love to hear from you. A student or team with excellent writing and video skills would be the ideal candidate for this project.

We will provide you with access to organizational assets that support the project, including personnel, marketing strategies, marketing and sales collateral, etc. We hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of our target market(s) and how we can better satisfy their needs. Our current organizational/HR positions are as follows: · Program Coordinator · Course instructors (3) · Social media coordinator Working with students, we want to develop a hiring practice and structure that best meets our needs of a blended workforce (contractors/staff).
