Billy Bishop Museum is a registered non-profit organization committed to preserving local history, including the childhood home of Victoria Cross recipient William Avery ’Billy’ Bishop. Located in the Bishop Family Home. The Victorian house was built in 1884 and is a beautiful example of Queen-Anne style architecture.
The museum seeks to engage our community by connecting local stories to the Canadian war experience and broader currents of global history.
Billy Bishop is Canada’s charismatic hero of the First World War 1914—1918. He is credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian flying ace. An adventurous, mischievous, and restless spirit, Billy was driven to be the best in all he did.
Take a step back in time to explore the lives of the Bishop Family, and discover the story of a Canadian icon.The museum also serves to recognize the contributions of the many servicemen and servicewomen, and to honour our Veterans.
