Evaluating accessibility act compliance at Canadian companies

Canada is on a bold journey to eliminate discrimination towards all people with disabilities and in turn create a barrier free nation on the day of or before January 1, 2040. We are looking for students that can contribute to our mission of providing sound and expert based consulting regarding accessibility within corporations. This collaboration between Sterling Creations and the student will invite the intern to reach out to federally regulated companies to find out how compliant they are with the Accessibility Canada Act. After a basic conversation that will determine a preliminary level of compliance, the student will invite the company contact to a consulting call with Donna Jodhan who is an expert and Platinum Jubilee winner for her work in accessibility in Canada.

Market research for accessibility and inclusion service

For the vision impaired, accessibility and inclusion are extremely important as they navigate a company's product or service. We are seeking to work with a group of students that can provide a market research report about companies we can collaborate with on accessibility and inclusion roundtable discussions. The main objective of our roundtables will be to bring together small groups from departments at the companies to understand the level of commitment to accessibility for its employees and customers. The focus of the report should be around which types of companies could benefit from these roundtable discussions, and providing the points of contact and/or decision makers that we can then reach out to to organize the roundtables. Some examples of companies/organizations that could benefit from roundtable discussions are Government, Telecommunications, Banks and Medical companies. The companies should be in Canada. We welcome further ideas of industries and companies and encourage students to learn about accessibility and the challenges of being vision-impaired. I can provide information about this via teleconference calls. Once the companies are selected, the report should include a high level strategy that describes how to attract the attention of specific points of contact and decision makers from the companies. Other questions that can be addressed include but are not limited to: Who is our target audience? How should we market the Roundtable service? What channels should we use to reach decision makers at the companies? What communications strategies have been proven to work in the space of accessibility awareness?

Marketing Communications

We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization. Ultimately, the student will be working on content creation for our organization including written communications to be used on social media and email.

Survey Creation

The main goal of this project is to create a survey that will be sent to companies that may be affected by sight loss or blindness related challenges. We would like to know what those company's virtual coaching needs might be, and what their willingness to pay might be. We are seeking to get feedback on types of concerns and services being presently experienced by parents, children, and friends and family members and associates who are surrounded by sight loss and blindness related challenges.
