Strengthening Youth Mental Health in BIPOC Communities
The purpose of this socially innovative project is to support Burman University’s goal to become Canada’s thought leader for culturally competent mental health services for children and youth, specifically serving the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour) communities across Canada. Different cultures and communities have unique needs that are not presently being addressed by Canada’s existing mental health initiatives and services. The Level UP project will contribute to an emerging study that aims to serve as a resource for culturally competent mental health services for BIPOC communities across Canada (specifically children and youth), by developing resources that can be shared widely through the creation of publications (e.g., articles, books), presentations, and other educational materials to share with the key stakeholders (the government, NGOs, non-profits, etc.), educational institutions, and the public.
