Work with Technology Alberta to Help Grow Technology Companies in Alberta!

Technology Alberta is seeking 1-4 students to assist with our ABTEC 4000 Initiative and its mission to retain top-caliber talent in Alberta in order to strengthen and grow strong local technology companies – by increasing the visibility of these exciting high-tech employers. ABTEC-4000 : Technology Alberta is pleased to provide visibility to the many Alberta SMB (Small-to-Medium-sized Businesses) technology companies that collectively are hiring for 4000 new positions this year. Each month 40 different entrepreneurial Edmonton and Calgary Tech Companies are highlighted – for a total of over 400 companies over the year. This project will include three main objectives, as detailed below. Objective #1: Data Analysis and Validation Students will review the data captured by the ABTEC4000 Initiative and ensure it is accurate and displayed on the Technology Alberta site in an understandable format. Analyze and validate the data captured through ABTEC4000 to ensure accuracy and identify key findings. By analyzing this data, students will report on metrics, such as # of companies in Edmonton vs Calgary, or # of companies with AI Technology, etc. Support providing validated data to key local, provincial, and national databases. Help ensure data and key findings are showcased in an accessible and understandable format. This will involve making sure the formatting on the ABTEC 4000 Hiring Growth Companies page is consistent and key values are highlighted. Objective #2: Alberta Wide Company Identification In keeping with Technology Alberta’s mandate to support talent and help grow technology companies across the province, work to identify and increase exposure for technology companies in rural communities. For this objective, students will research and identify Alberta SMB (Small-to-Medium-sized Businesses) technology companies that are located outside of major centres (ex: Edmonton, Calgary) and operate out of smaller or rural communities (ex: Red Deer, Olds, Vermilion, etc). Objective #3: Increase ABTEC4000 Exposure and Outreach Increase promotion of both the ABTEC4000 Initiative and selected companies using both Technology Alberta’s social media and website platforms. This will include making posts on LinkedIn and/or providing content to the Tech AB web team to add to the website. Conduct outreach to selected ABTEC4000 companies to provide further awareness regarding Technology Alberta’s programs. Key Tools that will be used for this project: Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (to assist with Objective 1) Technology Alberta website (Tech AB web team will facilitate making any changes needed so no web experience required) LinkedIn (to assist with Objective 2 and 3)
